Comedian George Lopez joins forces with local restaurant group to open The Brews Hall in Torrance

The former home of a Goodyear tire shop in Torrance recently transformed into a food hall — with enough variety to satisfy anyone’s cravings.

The Brews Hall, owned by the Zislis Group and featuring two breweries and four restaurants, celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 13. Comedian George Lopez and sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd — who both have their own eateries at the food hall — joined restaurant partners Michael Zislis, David Zislis and Dave Furano at the opening.

Buzzrock Brewing Co., custom designed by Michael Zislis, can brew any style of beer — from pilsners to stouts — thanks to its 17 fermenting vessels and 12 serving vessels.

Lopez’s Ta Loco Brewing Co., meanwhile, features Mexican-style beers.

Lopez also has a restaurant at the food hall: Chingon Kitchen, featuring Mexican cuisine. Lopez joined forces with Michael Zislis to open the first Chingon Kitchen at the San Manuel Casino, in Highland; in May, they opened a second location at the Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino, in Phoenix.

Zislis originally approached Lopez about opening a restaurant when Rock & Brews, which the Zislis Group co-owns, moved into San Manuel, the comedian said.

“In the corner, they wanted a Mexican angle,” Lopez said. “So they came to me and they said, ‘Have you considered ever opening a Mexican restaurant?’ I said, ‘Yeah, of course, everybody does.’ It’s been incredible at San Manuel.”

The Brews Hall, 21770 Del Amo Circle, also boasts Colin Cowherd’s The Herd, which serves burgers, beers and beer; Rock’N Fish Grill; and Chicken TWILI (The Way I Like It), which specializes in fried chicken.

The Zislis Group has restaurants and breweries throughout the South Bay, including in Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and El Segundo.
